I. COURSE CODE : PHLO101

II. COURSE TITLE : LOGIC

III. COURSE DESCRIPTION :

Logic is a philosophical science of correct reasoning and inferential thinking. It trains and develops the minds of the students to think clearly and critically, and to judge and reason out with ease, order and accuracy.

IV. PREREQUISITE : None

V. CREDIT : Three (3) units

VI. OBJECTIVES :

At the end of the semester the students should be able to:

 

  1. know the nature of apprehension, judgment, reasoning and symbolic expression of arguments.
  2. learn the simple and symbolic analysis of judgment and reasoning.
  3. appreciate and internalize the value of correct thinking and reasoning as an aid in one's personal search for truth.
  4. develop critical and logical reasoning through the application of the fundamentals of logic in life's situations.
  5. write and articulate sound and arguments on selected philosophical problems.
